Headway Themes vs. Thesis – Which Theme is Right for You?

Until recently, the only real competitor in the theme framework space was the Thesis Theme by DIY Themes, until Clay Griffiths and his father, Grant Griffiths, came up with the idea of the Headway Theme by G2 Web Media. I honestly and truly believe that you can achieve anything with Headway. While you could also achieve nearly anything in Thesis, I think you’ll have to do a lot more work to get it there.

Adding a Horizontal or Inline Page Listing in WordPress

A recent client (NFMChamber.org*) had a need to show a page listing in the footer of their site. This isn’t an unusual need, and it’s simple enough to do with standard HTML & text links. The challenge for this particular client is that they needed the listing to be dynamic; the users and administrators are not very technology-savvy and couldn’t tell their HTML from their elbow.

Don’t Lose A Single Link! Permalink Redirects Save the Day

It took me a while to figure out how to get the redirects to work so that the old blog posts (there were hundreds) would redirect to the new blog posts.  Just adding a redirect to redirect any URLs with /blog didn’t work, as the new blog page was ALSO examplesite.com/blog, but all the posts were examplesite.com/month/day/postname.
