Issa is a good friend of mine, and she was looking for a new design. I did her original migration from Blogger to WordPress, and she decided it was time to get off a free WordPress template and get something that really reflected her personal style and space. She gave me full creative license, and I ran with it.
Check out her new design at her blog, which is also a wonderful, honestly-written account of her life. Her writing is raw and bare and without whimsy, and it’s amazing as a result.
Issa’s site was designed using:
- A number of free brushes for GIMP and free fonts for Windows computers, used to create her unique header image and buttons
- The Headway Themes development structure and completely custom CSS styling
- Basic, but awesome, WordPress plugins to generate contact forms, visitor tracking, spam control and SEO
For a second there, I thought you said whiney. I was thinking, at least she’s honest.
