Shannon of “mommy blog” Milk & Cuddles and I are just finishing up our project. I think it turned out great. We started with a theme she chose, but quickly changed quite a bit to fit her previous design elements, her new needs as her site grows, and a few custom requests. We modified the original homepage act more as an overview page (showing her most recent posts in a number of categories) and added a separate Blog page that presented her posts in the traditional blog style. Drop downs for clean and easy navigation and small “cookie” touches around the site keep the design clean but interesting and navigable. The TimThumb script resizes post images and presents them as thumbnails to provide greater visual interest on the home page.
Shannon’s needs included a migration from Blogger to WordPress, which, though we had a few hiccups due to a host error, I was able to resolve the issues (with a few strongly worded and well documented support requests – Geek Speak to the rescue!) with her help on the phone, and the site is up and running smoothly.
