The 5 W’s

Who: There is a reason that the saying “different strokes for different folks” has hung around long past the time when “folks” was a popular term – and not just because it makes me giggle like a 12 year old boy.

The fact is that not everyone has the same comfort level with the “geek” side of the web.  While it takes only a few clicks to get a blog or website up and running these days, it takes a significantly greater amount of research, clicks, downloads, uploads, installation and customization to get the effect you’re after.

For those steps between “Sign up!” and settling into the warm, cozy corner of the internet you call “home,” I’m here to help in all ways geek.

What:  Anything you can think of.  I mean it — if I can’t help you, I’ll find someone who can. I’ve listed a few suggestions below, but it is in no way a comprehensive list.  Hit me with your best shot!

Would you like to:

  • Move your current Wordpress.com or Blogger.com blog to self-hosted Wordpress?
  • Get a custom domain and use it with your current blog?
  • Synchronize your email accounts and calendars?
  • Get your photos online for family and friends to easily access, print and download?
  • Share files or compute “in the cloud” so that your data is accessible anywhere at any time?
  • Set up your website with regular backups?
  • Install a new theme or header on your site?
  • Customize your blog sidebars with widgets and plug-ins?
  • Create and manage multple Wordpress websites off of one domain using subdomains?
  • Integrate web stats services such as Google Analytics, Get Clicky, Feedburner and others to optimize your current website?
  • Re-align your social networking profiles to provide a clearer picture of your web identity?
  • Create a new blog or website?

When: Depending on my current work load and the requirements of your project, we’ll get started as soon as possible. I want to ensure that every client always receives my full attention on their project, so I may ask if your project can wait a few days.  I work throughout the day and week — I try to remain available by phone and email during normal work hours and often work on weekends and in evenings.

Where: It doesn’t matter where you are — there is a way we can connect. I do a lot of my work through email, however if you follow me on Twitter or have an AIM, GoogleTalk, Skype or other chat profile, we can chat there as well.

Why: Because you might not be tech-savvy, but I am. Because you’d rather eat chocolate cake than wrestle with your webhost. Because these services are Geekalicious. The list goes on an on. For a shorter list, you could try listing “why not,” but your time is probably better spent filling out my contact form so we can get started.

Simply Geekalicious

"I couldn't believe it when I found you, MommyGeek! You were, plain and simple, the tech. angel I'd been asking for. You swooped in, got straight down the core of my problems ('cuz lord knows there were dozens) and got me moved across to the platform I wanted without blinking. Thank you so much!" ~ Matt Dixon, Nottinghamshire, UK.
